‘Rio 2’ – the upcoming American 3D computer-animated musical adventure-comedy and the sequel to 2011’s ‘Rio’ – is set to be released internationally on March 20, 2014 and in the United States on April 11, 2014 and the movie’s soundtrack will feature Janelle Monae and Bruno Mars, it has been revealed on March 4, 2014.

The latest announcement corresponds with the release of Monae’s single, titled ‘What Is Love’. The song from the highly anticipated animated film is available for digital download on iTunes, as well as other digital retailers. In addition to that, ‘What Is Love’ is streaming on Spotify.

Monae’s musical contribution to the movie’s soundtrack is an upbeat track that keeps up with the tropical theme of both movies from the series and features plenty of island vibes. The ‘Electric Lady’ singer will not only be featured on the soundtrack, but will also voice a character in ‘Rio 2’. Bruno Mars will appear on the soundtrack next to Monae, with a single titled ‘Welcome Back’. The ‘Granade’ singer will be voicing Roberto, a friend of main character Jewel in the movie.

‘Rio 2: Music from the Motion Picture’ is scheduled to be released on March 25, 2014 and will also feature B.o.B. and Philip Lawrence, in addition to a number of Brazilian acts.
