American hip-hop superstar Jay-Z is in the news constantly these days, as the hype surrounding his latest album, ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ is still going strong. The debut week sales forecast for the rapper’s new record has grown and industry sources claim that the album could sell between 450,000 and 500,000 copies by the end of the tracking week, on Sunday, July 14, 2013. ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ was released on July 4, 2013 via digital download and on July 8, 2013 for retail sale.
The ‘Open Letter’ rapper’s latest album is very likely going to become his lucky 13th No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, which will only cement his record as the solo performer with the most No. 1 albums in chart history. Only The Beatles have more No.1s, 19 in total. The new Billboard chart’s top 10 list will be revealed on Wednesday, July 17, 2013.
‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ is achieving great sales with digital retailers, despite the fact that one million copies were available free of charge via an app promotion with Samsung. The set was first available to Samsung smartphone and tablet users who downloaded the Jay-Z-centric app.
All of the ‘$100 Bill’ rapper’s albums since 1999 have debuted with over 400,000 copies sold. ‘The Dynasty Roc La Familia (2000–)’ sold 558,000 in 2000, ‘The Blueprint 2: The Gift and the Curse’ sold 545,000 in 2002, ‘Kingdom Come’ sold 680,000 in 2006 and his latest solo record, 2009’s release ‘The Blueprint 3’ opened at No. 1 with 476,000 copies sold in its first week.
