Lynrd.com: One of the greatest guitarists of all time, Carlos Santana, will be performing live in India on October 26 and October 28, 2012. The 10 time Grammy award winner will mesmerize audiences with his one-of-a-kind guitar playing in concerts in the Indian cities of Bangalore (Bengaluru) and Noida as part of his first-ever tour to the Asian country.
Santana, as a band, rose to fame back in the 1960’s and 1970’s when rock was in its formative years. The pioneering band effortlessly merged various musical styles together such as blues-based guitar lines, Latin and African percussion as well as Jazz and Latino music, to create a unique sound, which has distinguished them from most bands throughout their career.
The “Smooth” hit-maker is set to play at the Vladivar Rock’N India gig in Bangalore on October 26, 2012, as well as the F1 Rocks concert on October 28 in Noida, right after the Indian Formula 1 race. The president of United Spirits Limited (which is organizing the Bangalore gig) Ashok Kapoor said that the combination of Vladivar Rock’N India and Santana is another benchmark in India’s music and lifestyle space.
T Venkat Vardhan, who is the Managing Director of DNA Networks spoke about Santana’s arrival, stating that being a Grammy Award winner Santana was the best choice to headline the F1 Rocks concert and bring the Rock music genre to a wider Indian fan base.
Santana has sold over 100 million records worldwide and is listed as number 15 on Rolling Stone magazine’s 100 Greatest Guitarists of all time.
It seems to be raining concerts in India this October 2012 with American thrash metal band Slayer performing in Bangalore on October 20, 2012 and Megadeth headlining at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender gig in Delhi on October 14, 2012.
