British musical ‘The Spice Girls’, which was penned by Jennifer Saunders will be closing next month. The musical will be shut just six months after being on the London Stage, after to registered a reported loss of £5 million. People who are yet to watch ‘Viva Forever’ have to rush, as the last performance will be held on June 29, 2013.
The musical was launched in the month of November 2012 and has been the target of critics and the ticket sales have been poor too. Judy Cramer, the producer of the show, said in a statement, “It is with a heavy heart that we’ve had to make this very difficult decision to post closing notices for this original show which is blessed with one of the most brilliant casts currently on the West End stage.”
Craymer went on to say that they had set out to create a contemporary story which reflects their time. The producer also said that the testament to achievement is the standing ovation at every performance from an audience of families and friends all enjoying a great night out.
Since the first opening of the show, it has become even lighter and funnier, but despite the wonderful audience, they just cannot make it work anymore.
