Did you spot Ed Sheeran in the Game Of Thrones Season 7 premiere?

It’s that time of the year again. Forget anything else, because HBO’s Game Of Thrones Season 7 finally premiered! Major spoilers for those who haven’t yet been able to watch it. Now that the show has gone beyond George R R Martin’s books, viewers just have to go along with the story as it unfolds. In Season 6, we were left with some major shockers, and were hoping to Season 7 begin on a positive note.

Well, it did, at least for Ed Sheeran fans. The Shape Of You singer made his acting debut in the hit series, and that to with none other than the fiercest wolf in the North, Arya Stark. Though the premiere of Game Of Thrones Season 7 was just as epic as the rest of the season promises to be, Sheeran’s actual cameo was not that important to the story. Sure, he was just a boy dressed in armour, eating rabbit and meeting Arya. Was that really necessary to the story?

Ed Sheeran was cast as a boy with his fellow mates, who nods in agreement at everything the mighty Arya has to say. He has his one bold line: “It’s a new one” and then goes on to sing around a campfire, like the jesters in the King’s courts used to do from times of old. But it garnered quite a lot of excitement, that the redhead got this honor in the first place.

And of course, leave it to Twitter to go wild after the episode premiered. Fans of Game Of Thrones were annoyed, to say the least. We don’t want to time-travel to an Ed Sheeran concert in the woods when what we’re really bothered about is who the hell is going to gain the Iron Throne and what the hell is happening beyond the Wall.
