Popular English musician, songwriter and actor Sting is set to premiere his new album in 10 years, titled ‘The Last Ship’, as well as the upcoming theater production of the same name, in a series of 10 benefit concerts at the Public Theater in the fall 2013. The shows, which are titled ‘An Evening With Sting’, are set to be the first and only time the superstar will perform the songs live.

Sting to release new album with series of benefit concerts

The performances will run from September 25, 2013 until October 9, 2013 in the Public’s intimate Anspacher Theater and are bound to be a treat for all Sting fans. With the help of storytelling and visual projections, the concerts will show creative process behind the new album and stage musical.

‘The Last Ship’, which draws inspiration from the shipbuilding community of the ‘Every Breath You Take’ singer’s hometown of Wallsend, Newcastle and the demise of that industry in the 1980s, is scheduled to be released on September 24, 2013, from Cherrytree, Interscope and A&M Records. When it comes to the stage play, it will incorporate songs from the writers John Logan and Brian Yorkey and is set to debut on Broadway in 2014, though the exact date is not yet known.

The Public Theater, the venue where all performances will be held, is releasing a limited number of free tickets which will be distributed on the day of each show, via lottery system. In addition to the 10 concerts, the ‘Desert Rose’ singer will also host a special performance to celebrate his birthday on October 2, 2013, also at the Public.
