Iconic Irish rock band U2 are scheduled to debut their brand new single – titled ‘Invisible’ – via an ad from (RED) and Bank of America, which will be aired during the upcoming Super Bowl on Sunday, February 2, 2014. The band’s latest song will serve as an introduction to their upcoming album, a follow-up to ‘No Line On The Horizon’ which was released in 2009.
The ‘Beautiful Day’ musicians’ new single will be available on iTunes as a limited-edition free download for the first 24 hours after the commercial airs during Super Bowl. For every download during those 24 hours, Bank of America is set to donate $1 to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in order to provide life-saving treatment for HIV/AIDS, as well as testing and prevention services in some of the poorest nations in the world. Apart from the downloads, the band, (RED) and Bank of America are hoping to collect over $10 million in donations and funding for the campaign.
‘Invisible’ is the second musical offering from the ‘All I Want Is You’ musicians in recent months, following the release of ‘Ordinary Love’, a song which was recorded and included on the ‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’ soundtrack. ‘Ordinary Love’ won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song earlier in January 2014 and will be competing in the same category at the Academy Awards in February 2014.
Further details regarding the band’s upcoming album are yet to be revealed, but it is known that Interscope will release U2’s new record in the US.
