For those punk kids who grew up in the 90s, you definitely identified with the angst that Canadian rocker Alanis Morissette garbed herself in. Now a spiritual married mother-of-one, the singer-songwriter took to the stage once again for the American Music Awards (AMA) 2015 to celebrate 20 years of her hit debut album, Jagged Little Pill and in particular, her single You Oughta Know. Here are the highlights of that performance in particular that stole the night:
- Alanis may be in her 40s now, but man, she still has it in her to blow people’s minds. Her voice was on pitch and she didn’t look a day older than when she originally came out with the song.
- It is 2015 and apparently television allows for wardrobe malfunctions and celebrity misbehavior and absolute debauchery to go unscathed, but when it came to the lyrics “Would she go down on you in a theatre”, it was blanked out. Can you believe it?!
- Oh, and Demi Lovato was the second-half of the duet. Yes, there was a lot of walking around on stage, but many people praised Demi for honorably taking a back seat and allowing the original rocker to have her moment.
- While the camera spanned the audience for their reaction it couldn’t help but be noticed that “famous” stars like Ariana Grande, The Weeknd et al seemed to be lost and swayed like branches in a storm, which was pretty disappointing because that meant they don’t know about the classics in this “Belieber” generation!
