Video streaming giant YouTube announced that it is all set to stage its first-ever YouTube Music Awards show on November 3, 2013. The upcoming event – presented on YouTube – will be a 90-minute show, during which the video giant will present seven awards to nominees who managed to receive the highest number of YouTube views in the past year.
Even though the upcoming event will not be a threat to the Grammy Awards and the MTV Video Music Awards, it will be the inaugural show presented by the Google-owned company. The YouTube Music Awards show will be hosted by actor Jason Schwartzman and is set to broadcast live at Pier 36 in New York.
Additional details of the upcoming show will be revealed later in October 2013 and it will also be revealed how fans can book their tickets. The celebrity guests on the show will include Lady Gaga, Arcade Fire and Eminem. Other acts on the show are yet to be announced and they will offer taped performances from cities like Moscow and Seoul.
Danielle Tiedt, the company’s vice president of marketing said, “Our point is to celebrate YouTube’s role in the music ecosystem”. The nominees will be announced on October 17, 2013 and the winners will be chosen thanks to fan votes.
